Do You Need a Wedding Album?

Do You Need a Wedding Album?

There are a lot of different expenses to consider when planning your wedding day, your wedding photography being one of your larger expenses. I see a common trend of brides choosing to forego a wedding album to cut costs. However, the reality is that out of everything you’ll be spending money on, how many of them will you still be able to look back on and use years from now? Your wedding photos are the only item. This begs to ask the question… “do you need a wedding album?”.

With that being said, your wedding photography and wedding album are the best investment you can make as you plan your big day. There’s nothing quite like being able to physically hold and page through a beautiful wedding album. Looking through your wedding photos instantly transport you back to that day, whether it’s a week after the wedding or 20 years later when you’re telling your children all about your perfect wedding day.

Your wedding album is a physical representation of one of the most important days of your life and an heirloom that you can pass down through your family. Many brides are tempted to put their own wedding album together after the wedding but most of them simply never get around to completing the task. Remember, your wedding photographer shoots your wedding with your photo album in mind so they are the best person to turn to when it comes to layouts, album types, and customizations. Sending your a DIY album to a consumer lab simply won’t do. It means compromising the quality of your album and your photos. And after all, you’ve invested in high-quality photography services on your wedding day, so it makes sense that you should carry it through with a beautiful custom wedding album.

So, to answer the question- “do you need a wedding album?”, the short answer is it comes down to your priorities. Call me biased. I would much rather prioritize budgeting for a precious heirloom item that stands the test of time, than upgrading to top-shelf liquor at the bar or having custom marquee lights at my wedding. However, this is a personal decision and please do keep in mind that you are always welcome to add on a wedding album after the wedding day. Grooms (*ahem listen up!), this makes a wonderful first wedding anniversary gift for your bride. ;)
