dinner on a boat // meet brad + jenna

Last week our dear friends Brad + Jenna asked us to come over for dinner. You may remember these two from Grant and I’s wedding party photos [AKA the cute couple]. Now, Brad + Jenna are newlyweds and we were so excited to see their new “place”. You see, they live on a boat in Newport Harbor, so we had dinner on a boat! How cool is that?! On top of that, they both work for amazing non-profit organizations. Brad is one of the original Krochet Kids, and Jenna works with 31 Bits. These two are amazing inside and out. Yes, yes we are friends with the coolest couple ever. Can I get a badge or something? haha

Anyways, I love our time with these friends so much I brought my camera along and got a few quick snaps before the sun went down. Sliders, sunset, and their adorable pup Ernest Hemingway.

Franciscan Gardens Wedding // Hannah + Kaipo

This Franciscan Gardens wedding is one of my recent FAVORITES! Hannah + Kaipo have been friends of mine for several months now and I fall more and more in love with them the more I get to know them. They are the most selfless, adventurous couple and their love for life and people just beams outwards. Aside from the amazing venue, perfect light, and stunning couple [and my overall love for the photos that came from this gorgeous wedding], I think what really makes this wedding stand out to me is that it truly was a celebration of their love for their family and friends as well as each other. What better kind of wedding to witness than that?!

This Hannah’s story of how they met:

“I was working at a restaurant in Laguna Beach and Kaipo was an area manager for a restaurant, and one of their locations was next door to my work.  My friends and I would frequent his work when we got off and we originally met just from me going in there a lot.  Kaipo would travel to different locations, sometimes for a day, sometimes for months, so when he was at the Laguna Beach location we would chat a little.  We knew each other for about a year before we started dating.  While he was doing a long stint in the Laguna Beach location, we started talking a bit more than usual since he was there more often.  One day when I was getting out of work I got a mass text from Kaipo inviting me to Taco Tuesday.  Since I had no plans for the night, I decided to go.  I arrived at his house and we hung out for a little waiting for everyone else.  When no one showed up, he said they would just meet us there and so off we went.  When we got there, still no one.  We ended up talking all night and having a blast getting to know each other and realizing how much we had in common. We both felt something unexpected that we had never felt with anyone else before.  The next day we decided to have lunch, we had so much fun again that after I went home we decided to have dinner together too.  After that day, we were basically inseparable!  Things moved pretty quickly and we knew from very early on that we had something very special and that we wanted to be together forever.  We got engaged after about 2 years of dating, and got married about 5 months after thatLovisa Photo Franciscan Gardens Wedding // Hannah + Kaipo icon smile (c)2012
Side note: For the first few months of our relationship I had always thought it was the weirdest “coincidence” that no one ever showed up that first night.  When people asked how we met, I would tell them the whole story and say “it was so weird that no one showed up!”  Then one day, Kaipo decided to tell me what really happened.  Once I arrived at his house and he found out that I was single, he texted all of his friends that he originally invited to say that he wasn’t going out any more and not to come.  Stupid me.”

Lake Shasta Houseboat Trip

Hello friends!! Well this summer has been crazy full of travel and fun weddings. And we’re sorry to say it but our blog has been a little neglected because of it. So now that we are back and settled I wanted to share a couple photos from our Lake Shasta houseboat trip with you.

One of my favorite things I’ve done this summer was a Lake Shasta Houseboat Trip. I had never been on a houseboat before and to be honest didn’t really even know what one looked like or what it was all about. My stepdad is the vacation genius, hence his nickname “Sparky” [lovingly given by my siblings in reference to Clark Griswold from the Vacation movies]. He is always putting together the most amazing vacations for our family of 13 [crazy I know] and we’ve created some amazing memories along the way. So! This year we were all waiting for August to roll around because we were all ready for this Lake Shasta houseboat trip. The weather was HOT, and the water was so warm! We had so much fun wakeboarding, waverunner-ing [?], and of course going down the water slide off the back of the boat for four days. I would love to go again! Have you ever been houseboating?

This was our view off the back of the boat the first couple of days and we had it all to ourselves! I kept thinking as we ate breakfast or dinner on the top deck, that we would have to go to a crazy expensive restaurant back home to get a view like that!

Seriously, stunning views no matter which way you looked! Although I got a few good shots with my SLR, it was really difficult to get different angles. Afterall, we were parked on a boat, I could only move around so much haha. But I also got a few good ones on my iphone. Here are a quick few.
